The basic action of the "Laydown Minnow Mid" is a powerful wobbling and rolling action thanks to its high-buoyancy body. Yet, in response to rod work, it produces a light and sharp darting action reminiscent of a short-billed lure. Moreover, by keeping it in a slightly deeper middle range where bass can easily catch up, it increases the chances of the jerkbait pattern working. Castability is also improved by the casting fin on the underside of the lip and the stable flight due to the unique weight balance. In low water temperature seasons, the floating type is effective as it can be brought up to the surface to use the fish-attracting effect of ripples. And the high-float type, which uses a highly buoyant bone-white ABS material, can produce a sharper action and stronger ripples. Tetsuo Tanabe, who conquered America with his jerkbait pattern, sought even greater heights with the "Laydown Minnow Mid."
